Baguio – I haven’t been to the city of pines in quite awhile, and so the trip was almost as exciting as the destination itself: the Consultative Planning Conference for COMELEC CAR.
The hardworking Election Officers and Election Assistants from CAR have gathered at the Hotel Supreme here, together with Regional Election Director Armando Velasco, to discuss preparations for the coming national and local elections, well in advance of the polls scheduled for May 2007. CAR Commissioner-in-Charge Romeo A. Brawner was on hand to spur on the election officials’ efforts with an inspiring opening address at the start of the two-day event.
Assisting them are members of the National Pool of Trainers, based in the COMELEC Central Office, under the direction of Atty. Jubil Surmeida, with guidance from both Director Emerald Ladra of the COMELEC Planning Department and election expert Atty. Rogelio Benjamin.
Extremely focused and output-oriented planning conferences such as this are part of the COMELEC’s thrust to guarantee clean, honest, orderly, and peaceful elections.
