GUILTY

Atty. Lintang Bedol was today pronounced guilty of indirect contempt by the COMELEC en banc, and sentenced to six months in jail and a one thousand peso fine. This is the first time in recent memory the COMELEC en banc has handed out such a judgment against one of its own ranking officials.

Bedol – through counsel – manifested his intention to post bail which was set by the en banc – speaking through Commissioner Resurreccion Z. Borra – at fifteen thousand pesos.

  1. Good job. I suppose that’s as far as the law can take the case and that’s all it can do.

Bedol intends to stay at the COMELEC for 10 more years.🙂

  2. You are aware, are you not, that this is only for the indirect contempt? That there are other investigations pending that might lead to harsher penalties?

  4. You are aware…[t]hat there are other investigations pending that might lead to harsher penalties?

I am now. But are those under the COMELEC as well? Or are they criminal cases this time?

  5. Those will be criminal cases, to be filed by the COMELEC.
